Tokyo Disneyland have revealed that Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, their upcoming Wreck-It Ralph ride, will officially open on 15 April 2027.

Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue will place guests at the heart of an interactive adventure alongside Ralph, Vanellope, and other Wreck-It Ralph characters to defend the Sugar Rush game from King Candy.

The ride replaces Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, which closed in 2024 and used a similar point-scoring ride system. Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue will use scanners installed in the ride vehicles to power the ride’s interactive element, with points awarded “based on factors including the types and number of Sugar Bugs restored.”

Disney have also released more details about what you’ll be able to find outside of the attraction too, with new Sugar Rush-inspired bites and merchandise.

A new gift shop, Pixel Prism, will open along with the ride next April and sell attraction-themed merchandise. A little earlier on March 17, you’ll be able to visit Popping Station – a new popcorn stand with a brand new flavour, Sugar-Lime Popcorn, inspired by the attraction. The flavour will also be available at other popcorn wagons throughout the park. More themed menu items are also set to appear across the park to celebrate the attraction’s opening.

In the lead-up to opening day, there’ll be plenty of promotional activities taking place across the park. From 12 January 2027, you’ll be able to train to help save the world of Sugar Rush through a new smartphone mini-game. The game will be available to play at home, but you’ll be able to play a special version in select areas of Tokyo Disneyland.

From 18 February, Sugar Rush-inspured decorations and photo opportunities will be popping up in Tomorrowland, and projections inspired by the attraction will light up Cinderella Castle from 18 March.

Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue is just one part of Tokyo Disneyland’s transformation of Tomorrowland. As well as the new attraction, Tomorrowland Plaza is being completely transformed, and Space Mountain is undergoing a transformation of its own to become Space Mountain Earthrise.
