Six Flags Over Georgia have issued an update on park safety, following the death of a man on the Goliath roller coaster earlier this month.
Goliath remains closed as safety reviews and investigations are ongoing, and eight other similar coasters across Six Flags parks also remain out of operation out of an “abundance of caution”.
In an update yesterday, Six Flags confirmed that they’ll be adding seat belts to Goliath, as well as to other coasters with similar restraints. This comes after the fatal incident on Goliath, which seemingly occurred due to a restraint failure. Investigations into how this occurred are currently being carried out.
As well as this, Six Flags also shared that they are working with independent engineers and ride inspection specialists to review their safety procedures for all of their rides, across all of their parks.
On these reviews, John Reilly, President and CEO, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, said: “We are committed to carefully evaluating their findings and taking appropriate action to further strengthen our standards and culture of safety.
