Lagoon Amusement Park in Utah has revealed J3 Grand Prix, a new launched roller coaster from Intamin that will open in 2027.
The new coaster will be the first Intamin Hot Racer in the United States, as well as the first launched single-rail coaster in the country.
J3 Grand Prix is being built on the former site of Jet Star 2, which closed at the end of the 2025 season after almost 50 years at Lagoon.
A compact, high-intensity coaster
Despite its relatively small footprint, J3 Grand Prix will pack plenty into its layout.
The coaster will feature 1,746 feet of track, two launches, three inversions and 13 airtime moments, with riders experiencing up to eight seconds of airtime throughout the ride.
It will reach a top speed of 40 mph and a maximum height of around 50 feet.
A new chapter after Jet Star 2
The name J3 Grand Prix is a nod to the former Jet Star 2, which occupied the site for decades.
Lagoon says the new coaster has been designed to offer something different from anything else currently at the park, while making use of the compact space left behind by Jet Star 2.
J3 Grand Prix is currently scheduled to open in July 2027 and will become Lagoon’s 11th operating roller coaster.
