A man has died and several others have been injured following an incident yesterday, October 12, 2026, on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia.
Though few details have been officially confirmed, reports and witness accounts indicate that the man fell from the ride. A spokesperson for Cobb County Government confirmed that detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the incident.
A spokesperson for Six Flags said:
“We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest’s family, friends, and loved ones. We are also providing support to the guests and team members affected.
The park team and local authorities responded immediately, and we are cooperating fully with local authorities as they complete their investigation. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time.”
Following the fatal incident, Six Flags have temporarily closed nine other roller coasters across its parks, “out of an abundance of caution,” a spokesperson has confirmed.
Goliath is a Bolliger & Mabillard Hyper Coaster, which opened at the park in 2006. The ride model uses a lap-bar restraint, sometimes called a clamshell restraint, which typically locks with a ratcheting mechanism. The ongoing investigation should hopefully clarify what role, if any, the restraint system played in the incident.
